Kelsie’s Story

Meet Kelsie.

October 24, 1998 – February 27, 2022

On Feb 27th, a young, beautiful girl named Kelsie Hix passed away from fentanyl poisoning.

“Kelsie was a beautiful soul with a smile that would light up the darkest room.” — Kim, Kelsie’s Mother

Kelsie is remembered as a beautiful soul with a smile that would light up the darkest room. She was passionate about Astrology, Numerology, and Crystals & loved sharing her knowledge with anyone who would listen. She studied to be a Cosmetologist, aesthetician, & CNA but hadn’t fully settled on one career yet. Kelsie loved her dogs, Gypsy, Lilah & Poncho.

Kelsie had so much to do, so much love to give, and so many smiles to share. Kelsie did not intend to nor deserve to die. She had a whole life ahead of her.

Kelsie, BirdieLight

We want to honor Kelsie and her amazing mother who continues to advocate for her.

While we advocate for the life-saving potential of tools such as fentanyl test strips and naloxone, BirdieLight is not the manufacturer of these tools, and no tool is 100% accurate all the time. BirdieLight makes no representations that these tools are 100% accurate; any reliance you place on them is strictly at your own risk. Please keep in mind that while fentanyl test strips are a powerful detection tool for the potentially-lethal presence of fentanyl in illegal pills and powder, the strips have been determined to be 92-96% sensitive in detecting fentanyl. Remember, never use any substance when you are alone (tell a friend you are taking something!) and that friend should always know where the naloxone (Narcan) is.
